If you weren’t able to catch the UFC 110 Press Conference Live, click the link to watch the replay of it. This is the first UFC event in Australia and looks like it has caught on “down under” with a sold out event. In the press conference Dana mentions that it will probably be an annual event from now on.
The press conference started with the two locals fighting on this card. First off, let’s face it… the only reason they are on the main card is because they’re Australian. Their records are just horrid and they mention it’s actually a rematch as they fought back in 1997. Who the hell cares that they fought nearly 13 years ago and does anyone really care that they’re fighting now?
The first interesting talking point came up with Bisping and Silva as there has been some trash talking on both sides. Wanderlei got the first laugh by saying he was going to just “kick his ass” before he stepped down. Later in the press conference it’s brought up that Bisping stated he’s going to end Wandy’s career. Bisping went on to say you have to win in this profession to keep going and that wasn’t something he’s been doing lately. If I was able to understand a damn word that Silva said back I could tell you what his response was.
Little side rant coming…
What is the purpose of getting these guys who have such thick accents and sub par English to do these press conferences? It just leaves fans wondering “WTF did he say?” I don’t want to have to listen to the response a few times before I know what was said. It’s frustrating listening to Wanderlei Silva talk.
Back on track…
When Dana was asked if Silva lost this fight if his career would be over, Dana took the “beat around the bush” reply with it depends how he loses. So this tells me if Bisping just goes in here and destroys Silva, that it could very well be over for Wanderlei Silva in the UFC.
All in all, it will be a good event but I think you lose a lot of PPV buys with these overseas events because to watch the fight live it’s at 1:00 PM EST on Saturday and the replay is at 10:00 PM which is typically when the fight would be so most people have shit to do during the day and will end up seeing the results before 10:00 PM which renders the purchase pointless at that time.
I for one will be making sure I’m watching live earlier in the day because nothing pisses me off more than finding out the results during that “in between” time.
