Injuries have been plaguing the UFC over the past several months. Fighters injured, sick or whatever the reason has caused a shuffle on fight cards past, present and future. UFC 110 is the most recent victim of injury plagued fight cards as Ben Rothwell is now dropping out due to sickness. Anthony Perish will step in for Rothwell.
Cro Cop himself had some issues the other day while sparring and got a cut above the eye line that was stitched up but would not back out of the fight:
“Croatian website MMA Axion reported this morning that Filipovic was sparring with his team mate Sasa Mucnjak when he received a bad cut above the eyeline. The cut was stitched and Filipovic has declined to pull out of the fight, saying he will not let weeks of hard preparation go to waste.”
There are no details on the UFC site in regards to what the “illness” was at this point. Perhaps Rothwell saw that Cro Cop would still come into the fight after a nasty cut and realized he has no chance against that kind of determination.
On top of this, the fight between the two Australians is no longer in place either. The fight that they were doing because of the UFC 110 taking place in Australia is now off. Sinosic’s shoulder injury has forced the cancellation of this match. It wasn’t made clear if another fight from the undercard would be moved up in it’s place at this point in time.
